The 200 Free Relay team of Max Oberg, Christopher Pukszta, Naci Keskin and Leo Yang – the youngest of all 24 teams competing at the national meet – started Day 2 with a program record.
Freshman Pierre Zeineddin notched the team's second record of the day, smashing the 50-second barrier in the 100 Fly.
Sophomore Naci Keskin lowered his own 200 Free record for the Beavers' fourth of the day, narrowly missing out on a spot in the evening finals.
Rookie Catherine Deng became the first Caltech women's swim & dive All-American with an eighth-place finish in the 100 Fly. She also lowered her own program record earlier in the day to qualify for the top heat.
The 800 Free Relay team of Pukszta, Keskin, Oberg and Yang – at one point in the season the top-ranked relay in the entire country – placed ___ in a timed-final morning swim, earning All-America status for the first time since 1968-69.
Zeineddin earned a third All-America honor for Caltech with a fifth-place morning swim in the 200 Fly, lowering his own school record again.
Max closed the meet with a final scoring swim in the 1650 Free, lowering his own record by another two seconds.
The men's team placed 28th in the nation while Deng earned the women's team a 32nd-place finish for its first-ever national ranking. Both squads will earn points in the Learfield Director's Cup standings by virtue of scoring at the national meet.
