A fellow chess player introduces Bobby to an Argentinian woman, thrusting the genius into a new realm where the body triumphs over the mind. Fischer must battle for control or face the destruction of his life's ambition.
This free concert will feature the music of the Beatles, in a special arrangement originally commissioned by Cirque du Soleil. Also on the program will be music by Ralph Vaughn Williams, Ron Nelson, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Daniel French.

William Bing, Director featuring the Poncho Sanchez Band and vocalist Candi Sosa
Poncho Sanchez has recorded over 19 albums, and won a Grammy in 2000 for best Latin Jazz Album. He has recorded with Cal Tjader, Mongo Santamaria, Hugh Masekela, and Tower of Power.
Candi Sosa is one of the most respected singers in the world of music. She sings with tremendous passion and once you have heard her sing, you will know why she is known the world over for her ability to connect with her audiences.

The program includes Brahms' Symphony No. 4 and Muczynski's Saxophone Concerto. Humperdinck's Prelude to Hansel and Gretel, led by the orchestra's Assistant Conductor Jacob Ortega-Gingirch, will open the concert.
The First Annual Caltech Small Group Jazz Concert will be an informal gathering of jazz sounds featuring members of the Caltech Jazz Bands and the Caltech Jazz Improv Class with guest artist Glenn Hair on guitar as well as The Nick Broten - Chris Rolontz Ensemble.
There will also be a discussion about how musicians improvise, giving the audience a chance to ask the musicians how they do it.

Joshua Yu is a freshman at Occidental College studying cello with Gloria Lum. Also featured will be Jacob Ortega-Gingrich as assistant conductor.
