The teams that took the field at the Rose Bowl last Friday afternoon were composed of none other than Caltech's own Fleming House denizens, past and present. Continuing a tradition started in 2001, the students took the afternoon off to socialize with their fellow Flems, get to know some alumni, and play a few games of touch football in Myron Hunt's famous stadium.

The young faces you see on campus today are not new prefrosh. They are students participating in Caltech's annual Take Our Children to Work Day. Sponsored by Caltech Human Resources,today's event is an opportunity for children and teenagers—fromfourth graders to high school seniors—to explore future career possibilities and learn more about what goes on at Caltech. 

April Fool's Day, Passover, Easter, Tax Day, Earth Day … and Gaypril? Among the many events that take place in April, one of the lesser known is the month-long "Gaypril" celebration, dedicated to advancing awareness of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) issues at Caltech and other universities around the country.

Chris Shannon, the Richard Merkin Professor of Economics and Mathematics, is one of Caltech's newest faculty members. Her research involves developing mathematical models to understand financial markets and other mechanisms that allocate goods, such as auctions.
