## Try These Puzzles from Ditch Day 2013

Want to play along at home? Try your hand at these puzzles taken straight from actual Ditch Day stacks!

If you think you've solved them, let us know in the comments on Facebook. But please do not post answers - we wouldn't want to spoil the fun for others! You can check back on Tuesday to see if you got them right.

Want to check your answers? Give up? Visit the answers page (which we can reveal now that Ditch Day 2013 is in the history books.)

### Say What?

At one point during the day, students working on one stack receive this notice:

*Dory (from Finding Nemo) thinks the whales told her how to catch the bad guy on the stack, but she can't remember how she recorded their conversation. Can you (the stackees) help her*?

What does this mean? Well, listen to these two WAV files and maybe you can figure it out:

### Go Where?

Partipants in this stack have what should be a delightful first task: find the location of their breakfast. Here's their clue:

And here's what they're told in order to help them solve the puzzle:

- The goal consists in finding the black boxes in each grid.
- The figures given on the side and in top of the grid give you indices. They indicate the size of the blocks of black boxes of the line or the column on which they are.
- For example 3,4 on the left of a line indicates that there is, from left to right, a block of 3 black boxes then a block of 4 black boxes on this line.

Solve this and, though we can't offer you breakfast, we'll be impressed!

### Now Where?

Later in the day, those same students are off to..., well, here's how they figure out where to go:
