Kristina Olsen is a wonderful singer, songwriter and multi-talented musician (acoustic guitar, steel-body slide guitar, saxophone, concertina, mandolin and piano). She still calls Santa Monica home, but she spends most of her time out on the road, particularly in Australia these days. Though she won't be bringing a piano, and we're not sure about the mandolin, Kristina will not only dazzle you with the other instruments, but her songs will make you wonder why she isn't better known.
Olsen's music ranges from the bluesy sassiness of the slide guitar and the playful fun of the sax to serious and compassionate songs with the guitar. She has a wonderfully expressive voice, and Patrick Shepherd of The Press in Christchurch, New Zealand, wrote, "Olsen's singing is as powerful as it is delicate, forceful as it is tender, and she asks a lot of herself, instrumentally, voically and emotionally." She's a clever and delightful woman who is completely at home in front of an audience, and her subject matter runs the gamut from serious to silly.
