General Relativity at 100: The Road to Relativity – Einstein Manuscripts on View in Dabney Lounge

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the theory of general relativity and the announcement of the first-ever observation of gravitational waves as they arrive at Earth, the Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Einstein Papers Project at Caltech present an exhibition of Einstein manuscripts, calculations, letters, books, and photographs housed at the Albert Einstein Archives at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The exhibit will contain manuscript highlights from the years 1907 to 1916, during which Einstein formulated general relativity and exchanged letters with many other scientists in Europe and the US.

The exhibit runs February 16 - 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Dabney Lounge after which time it will be moved to the Einstein Papers Project at 363 S Hill Avenue on the eastern edge of the Caltech campus.

Opening Lecture: Dabney Lounge, February 16, 2016, 4 p.m.

"The Genesis of General Relativity: Documented and Visualized"
