The performance of Mozart's Requiem, with 100 singers, marks the first time in several years that the choruses of the two colleges will combine in concert. The program begins with Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, performed by Caltech senior Misha Raffiee. Allen Robert Gross, director of the Caltech-Occidental Symphony, conducts.
Misha Raffiee is the third of this year's Student Concerto Competition winners to perform with the orchestra. A native of Reno, Nevada, Misha is a senior at Caltech with a double major in Bioengineering and Business Economics and Management. Having begun violin studies at age 2, Misha currently studies with Martin Chalifour, concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. This will be her second appearance with the Caltech-Occidental Symphony as a Concerto Competition winner.
